Dr.T gives some very useful specific advice on hyperfocal focusing.
I know your kidding about releasing a book soon but if your NOT
kidding about the not so distant future, I can't wait!

Regarding hyperfocal focussing, that is ONE of the reasons I went
with a P&S FIXED FOCUS camera rather than autofocus. That and
it costs less! I noticed that the same cameras with autofocus
tended to blur the background more compared to fixed focus.
This of course is because the camera is focussing on the subject
of interest and favoring wider apertures/faster shutter speeds.

The other reason for going with fixed focus is because I didn't
want the other variable of possible mismatch in the autofocusing
and delay (which some cameras are superfast and others superslow!).

I have to agree with George that a Realist (OR any other suitable
manual camera) can be setup as a P&S (with limitations of course!),
when you use hyperfocal focussing. I think this might have been
the source of confusion in calling a Realist a P&S.

Ah yes, good points. After focusing for the subject and total disregard
for hyperfocal, I USUALLY (not always) try to set the window
(in anaglyphs) on the eyes and totally disregard stuff sticking out or
touching the window. ;-)

Gabriel with a total disregard for alot of things! ;-)
