I read the above quote and was reminded of another saying I've heard
often...
God helps those who help themselves!
To me this means, while divine intervention is great, you get a lot more
of it when you've studied and/or prepared yourself. Thus, knowing
something about the math involved is helpful. Understanding the
workings of your camera (shutter speed, focal lengths, etc...) can give
you much better results than the "hit and miss" method of photography.

Whether it's a study of the math involved or a recording of "what I
shot" so you can later compare the results with the settings you
recorded, we all try to better our photography. That's why I really
like the discussions on this list. It helps me to better my 3D photo
skills by studying the recommendations and/or mistakes of the others on
this list and learn from them rather than making them all myself and
learning from my errors.

BTW, anyone in the Dallas area who might be interested, The annual Plano
Balloon Festival is coming up on Sept 19, 20 & 21st. A great
opportunity to get 3D photos of hot air balloons. Sometimes even up
close & personal. Bob Woodruff park. Take the bus ($2.00/person) and
save on parking fees & traffic!
