Come on George, how can it be good AND simple at the same time? You forgot
to take Pie and multiply it by the actual measured film perforation size,
then amplify the cube root by the 1/30 rule to determine the maximum amount
of slide bar deviation x 1.876. After applying the Syteinberg-Atchingson
rule of thirds, and then setting the Hyperfocal distance to 43 and then
adjusting the interoccular and plot it out using lots of bright colors and
sparkels.:o)
Seriously, I think the designer of the Stereo Realist had it right and the
Realist, when used without all the fuss, does as good a job as you can do.
Forget the math and shoot. After all, the less time one spends fiddling
with slide rules, the more time there will be to take an actual photograph.
But remember, any excessive depth will ruin the slide, so be very careful.
I know I do not want excessive depth in the image. I think the depth of
field scale works well for getting everything sharp, and the basic design
of the Realist gives you great stereo without worrying about changing
something.
