Yes, it is common. Most 3.5s will vignette at f16 too. There is some
variation, the source of which I have not been able to pin down. Ilex
lenses strike me as more prone to vignetting than regular 3.5s.

That's correct. I do not see vignetting with my 2.8 at 7p.
