I'd hesitate to buy an expensive camera based on such small difference.
Is there any other differences between the two RBT cameras that will
help you decide? Why are the sales of the 75 mm outnumber than of
the 65 mm? I doubt it is only the spacing of the lenses. How about
the film format?

Dr T (and for Dana's information too)....well put and the maine two
reasons that you see people choose the 75mm lenses are ...

1) Enhanced stereo effect...and although 75mm may limit you to how close
you can get...you CAN get very close with a 75mm model...but you have to
a) watch the neard far depth ratios more carefully...and b) you may be
in for some heavy duty cropping of the image to get it
viewable/projectable

2) RBT 109, X2, X3 and X4 "B" or 75mm base models offer standard
exposure of 24 x 36mm on the film...so that they can be fed through a
standard slide or print processor. For professionals and folks shooting
a lllllot of film...that allows for the images to come back in 2 x 2's
if desired...and for quick checking large quantities of image
pairs...that eliminates the manual mounting procedures of each image to
start.

For every 65mm X or 109 series camera that I have brought in to the US..
approx 30 75mm units are brought in ...for your information.

Conversely...I know Dr T wrote a review of the 59mm RBT S1....and here
you can "puch" your depth ratios a lot more...due to the less radical
stereobase....and the S1 can yeild some great results...especially when
shooting down a long bridge...that you want to project...you can get
that clsest object quite a bit closer to the window that with a 75mm
model....as the near far convergence issues are less extreme.

Now...its time to pick up me acoustic bass and play some tunes...enough
of the stereobase stuff... pluckity...pluckity...pluck! Jon G
