I use a pair of large plano-convex lenses about five inches above a
light table on which is laid a plastic ruler to provide a straightedge
to support the bottom of the cardboard mount, and having a Reel-3d
mounting gauge taped to the plastic ruler for quick rotational
alignment. The finger-and-thumb of the right hand allow easy lateral,
vertical and rotational alignment while watching the window through the
lenses. The left hand can then pinch down the top of the foldover to
hold the chip as the right hand is removed. I gave up using tapes when
I found how easy it is to do it without. But the lenses give a good
view of the window and the alignment gauge gives an accurate view of the
rotational aspect.
