This was once believed, but now stereoscopy has been
invented :-). In viewing stereo projection you *allways* see
something in front or (mostly) behind the screen, if not
it is a "flattie" or one projector bulb is blown up :-)
Of course those no-glasses people see only  something on
the screen. We Stereo Convicts however look at the illusion 
produced by our brain in which fortunately depth is 
extending far beyond the screen!

The illnesses referred to only occur with extreme pictures
and prolonged exposure to them. But mostly the cause is
bad mounting (rotational and/or heigth errors).
