<I am wondering how many of the people on this list used to freeview
things as children? ... Do you suppose that, as a class, people who grow
up to be interested in things stereoscopic notice these things more as
children than the average kid?>
Yep, I loved Viewmaster and fields from moving car. I also stared at ceiling to the point that
people though I was autistic (just kidding). I loved watching rows of crops "run" past. You know
what I mean? They look like legs running! There are 3d people and non-3d people. My wife
doesn't get 3d. At all. She tries. But she also runs into things constantly. Spacially
challenged? Perspectively disadvantaged? Stereoscopically insufficient? My mom sees it. My
kids do. Dominant gene? Quien Sabe?
Some people at work do, some don't. The number 10% has been tossed around for the number of
people who are incapable of seeing stereo (ambliopic). One guy at work was trying to play along.
He shows me this picture of a beautiful asian girl in a swimming pool. Clothing optional, if you
know what I mean. There was so much parallax that parts of her, let us say, chestal anatomy,
seemed to be hovering over the pool surface. It was grotesque and comical at the same time. To
my co-worker, a person who usually can't see 3d, this was "good" 3d. Uh, yeah, whatever you say!!
<ggg>. It's probably a continuum. Maybe we need to have a perspective adjustment knob for those
who need that kind of stereo boost.
