P3D Winds of Change/Club Meeting

Hurricane Georges cancelled the National Parks and Recreation Congress
and saved me from a trip to Miami. I like Miami, but the weather here
was magnificent. We had an impromptu meeting of the Rabbit Hash 3D
Photography Club down on and around my dock on the Ohio River. An
unusually large number of members turned up.
I should clarify that, we have about 24 members. Of those, about 14 are
really active, 6 of us take most of the pictures, the rest just enjoy
looking at them and about 3 show up to see what kind of wine Ed brings to
the meetings. We are not a large club, but we are active.
Aside from a few new Loreo pictures of Ed's hill He has a lot he wants
to sell with the best available view in Bone County, you can see the
river, Loughery's Island, and from Rising Sun to Aurora Indiana. The
roll also had some shots of Mayor Goof and general local color. We have
two suitable viewers and we passed them around.
Three items of business were discussed. First were plans for the Fall
boat ride. We decided that Ed's boat can comfortably seat 12 people, but
it is actually two distinct areas, not conducive to conversation.
Jerry's boat can carry 6, and Amy2's can get a 12 passenger pontoon
boat. So we decided that we would simply load the boats and cruise up to
the Wild Duck in Aurora (an hour's cruise). The Wild Duck is the Wharf
Boat for the Dottie G., the sternwheeler upon which I frequently perform
weddings. It is a good sized bar with plenty of room for a meeting. The
food is good and cheap and the drinks are fairly priced. The date is
tentatively the second last Friday in October.
Second, we discussed upcoming elections, nominations are due by the day
of the boat ride.
Elections will be in November.
Finally we discussed what to do with some items we probably don't need.
It was decided to sell a very nice Revere and to decide later if we woud
sell a really spiffy TDC VIVID. The Revere is over on Sell3D now.
There were also pointed remarks about the lack of issue 2 of the
newsletter, but we won't go into that.
As it got dark, Amy2 pulled up in her brother's big pontoon boat. She
had several of the members of the Ladies Literary Circle aboard (I'm not
making this up). A number of our members joined them for an expedition
to the fleshpots of Rising Sun, Indiana.
The rest of us stayed into the evening and enjoyed a big drift wood
bonfire that Bill built on the bank.
The steps up from the river seemed very steep when the group dispersed in
the wee hours.
A succsessful meeting marred only by the fact that Joyce got a black eye
when she tripped over Amy2 as the pontoon boat group tried to board for
the trip home
