Goodbye HDTV... Welcome to SHD!

While discussions about when HDTV will take place in USA and Europe, the
research in Japan works toward a new format that simply is at least
twice as good as "ordinary" HDTV. SHD is now put to use with tele
medicine. A dedicated broadband (B-ISDN) line is used for
3D(stereoscopic) using SHD format realtime communication between USA and
Japan.

HDTV may be working for movies, but the quality is far from good enough
for interactive services. To read text that equals that of high quality
print, and in use where quality is a must as within medicine, the SHD
format will be needed.

Super Reality Audio-visual Systems.
SHD is still only a small part of the ambitious plan for Super Reality
Audio-visual Systems. The goal is to improve the spatial user interface
quality( no need for 3D glasses) without any eyestrain and fatigue. This
might include use of holographic displays or IP(Integral photography)
which gives both horizontal and vertical parallax. Realtime 3D
communication will take place by gesture, advances voice systems
combined with using ultra high definition wide screen systems and
more....

Communication will be carried out with B-ISDN lines.(ATM 155MB/s or
more) using fibre optics into the home. Every household will have their
own in house server.

Conclusion
As the world rejected approval of the HDTV(analogue)as a standard
(developed and put to use by Sony in 1986), saved us for a system that
by now is history. Because of the long term introduction of
HDTV(digital) broadcast, could we anticipate that SHD will be ready
sooner, avoiding the pitfall of having to buy HDTV(digital)in between?

Have a look at future broadcast:

FYI
SHD-format
The SHD imaging system provides the highest-quality electronic image,
superior even to high definition television (HDTV) images. Compared to
HDTV, SHD provides twice the resolution, twice the frame rate, and
superior color fidelity. In comparison to NTSC, the current television
standard, SHD provides 14 times the number of pixels, twice the frame
rate, and much greater color fidelity. In addition, the SHD system can
transfer high-quality image at high speed via broadband integrated
services digital networks (B-ISDN), integrating and enhancing existing
electronic image media. The non-interlace signal of SHD ensures no
"jitter" in the image, creating the quietest image available in
electronic image media.

Specifications:

Spatial Resolution 2048 x 2048 or higher

Temporal Resolution 60 frames per second or higher

Color Resolution 24 bits per pixel RGB or higher

Sampling Frequency 357 MHZ or higher

Scanning Type Progressive Scanning (non-interlace)

Pixel Aspect Ratio Square Pixels
