P3D People's choice tonight in OSPS

Tonight we will try something new at the Ohio Stereo Photographic
Society. After the three judges are done casting their votes and
the results are announced, we will ask all the attendees to cast
a vote on one (their favorite) image. The slide with the most votes
will receive the "People's Choice" award.

This was proposed by Mark Dottle. I like the idea... I think it will
clear up a number of misconceptions that have been circulating. One
is that all judges think alike. Another is the stereotype that they
pick up "postcard" images and the like. Another is that the judges and
"the people" have different tastes. The truth is that judges are people
like me and you and have different opinions, just like the rest of us.

I also like the idea because it will make the competitions more fun.
It will let all club members participate and cast an opinion. Something
for every one to look forward to, those who enter slides and those who
don't.

IMO, a good judge must be able to critique an image effectively. Almost
eveyone can have an opinion... but if you ask them to justify it, most
people (myself included) are at a loss of words. My reaction is more
intuitive. I like it. I don't like it. If pressed for an explanation,
I can come up with a few sentences but it will not be very convincing.
I have heard experienced judges critique images and I can see that they
have an ability not found in most of us...
