P3D Dreams and Starting 3D
Hi fellow 3D Nuts
The issue of dreams has been running as a thread, I was once asked whether
I dreamed in colour or black and white?, what about, " Do you dream in 3D?"
And my fourpennyworth (English Expression) on starting in 3D, yep I had
View Master, and have enjoyed collecting again , one reel I remember as a
child was of an American Circus so if any one has a spare reel fitting that
description I would be interested. Also collected Weetabix cards .. still
got a couple of viewers to trade. Got interested properly about 1993 when I
bought a magazine cos it had a free film on the front and inside was an
article about the Stereo Realist. Going off on my holiday (vacation to you
colonial cousins) I found camera shops knew little about stereo (Surprise
surprise!!!!) but got enough info to make a simple set up with two 110
cameras bought for about $10 and some out of date film for about 50 cents.
I bought a cork sanding block and a pile of rubber bands and worked out how
to press the two buttons together. The next day I went to Oxford and got
some very perculiar looks from the folks around -particularly Japanese
Tourists with very expensive cameras. Processing the film and two cheap
magnifying glasses later and I prepared to view. The picture quality was
predictably poor but I will never forget the first time I lined the prints
up and up popped the stereo effect ... brilliant! I've been hooked ever
since. My two cameras are still home made, a twin pair of XA2's and
unusually twin Yashica Samurai SLR one left handed, one right handed (half
frame). I joined the Stereoscopic Society and am an avid View Magic
worker, I've also got into scanning pictures and making Anaglyphs. As for
the golden year ..... 1956
