P3D Re: Best flash and slide for realist
Mark Bennett asks about:
1. Coverage of a flash unit for Realist.
If the flash unit can cover a 35 mm lens (most can) without adapter then
it will cover the Realist format (with room to spare in the horizontal
direction.) But if the unit will only cover a 50 mm lens (I had a
Minolta flash like that) then it will not cover the *vertical* direction
of the Realist and you need the wide angle adapter.
2. Best slide film to use with a Realist.
By coincidence, this was the subject of DrT's lecture in stereo photography
in the last issue of the "Stereogram", the publication of the OhiO Stereo
Photographic Society. Quoting from this article:
"Best Film For Stereo?
Film is the most important photographic item after the camera. So, what
film is best for stereo? To select film, we are faced with a number of
questions:
- Slide film or print film?
- What brand of film?
- What film speed?"
I am sorry, you have to subscribe to read the rest :-) :-) :-)
Under "What Brand of Film?" we read: "Film is religion". Discussions
about film choices can spark heated debates. And the article goes on to
summarize the E6 vs. K14 Kodachrome comparison.
Lately I have been using Sensia which is only about $3.50 from B&H.
I am not sure how B&H ships to England. It might be better to have
a friend ship the film to you.
