P3D RHDDDPC Meeting

This past weekend was a busy one at Rabbit Hash. I think I had a record
number of visitors. The weather is the culprit, we are enjoying an
unusually mild, clear and beautiful fall.
But...the problem of the chill in the air and the expected overflow crowd
put the kibosh on the idea of a meeting/boat ride. The solution was a
sort of peregrination. We began with cocktails on my dock, moved to Ed
and Beverly's for dinner and elections and proceeded to the top of Ed's
hill for a bonfire and drinks.
Beverly is an enthusiastic and talented southern cook. We enjoyed pot
roast, corn bread, corn pudding, greens and ham hocks , carrots with
celery and so on. Wonderful. After dinner we passed the Loreo around
and discussed further modification to it. Then we looked at Jerry's
visit to New England. I was amazed at how little Provincetown and the
rest of Cape Cod in the many years since was there. Jerry's use of Kodak
Royal Gold, printed as slides by Dale, produced some really vibrant views
of the Maine coast. Then Ed presented the photo essay we all contributed
to of the adventures of Mayor Goofy (Ed's canine associate and a valued
member of the RHDDDPC 3D DDDog Auxiliary.) Goofy has been interviewed by
papers and TV and Radio stations around the country since his election as
mayor of Rabbit Hash. In fact a photographers from Women's World was
here today.
Elections for club officers were held. I refused to run for reelection
to the office of Director General and I won easily. Jerry is new
recording secretary and Bill is treasurer. Beverly nudged Buddy out as
Officer in Charge of Snacks. Buddy is now Sgt. at Arms down river from
the Store, he doesn't go up river except in a boat.
A number if items were voted on and we decided to have a one time
competition. We are looking for the best photo with a Winter Solstice
theme. It must be totally unrelated to Christmas (many of the folk down
here follow the old religions, so we just don't talk about it). We are
hopeful of a great response.
Then we adjourned to the top of Ed's hill where the great bonfire was
lit. Conviviality reigned until the wee hours. Even Indiana looked
lovely as did the lights of the gambling boat as it glided silently below
and lent a festive air to the entire affair. All the world's problems
were solved in this delightful setting.
Because the season is so busy, will not have another meeting until after
the solstice.
