That's interesting indddeed.  I have mentioned the conversation a few
years back with Bob Brackett where he said that the 101x41 format is
dead and everyone will be switching to 2x2x2.  Not only this has not
happened (at least I don't see it happening in the USA) but RBT and
Brackett himself have been supporting the 101x41 format.

For those who do stereo for their own enjoyment, the 101x41 format
is definitely very convenient.  Plus, you can find good viewers for
a reasonable price.
