Under bright lights glass may be worse than paper/plastic mounts because it'll
hold in the heat generated at the film (by the bright light).

Keeps fingers off of the film.  Easy to keep clean and unscratched.  Nice
and heavy too, gives a feeling you have a SLIDE rather than just a slide.

P.S. - Rather than try to bolt two $20 projectors together with probably
       a LOT of work and uncertain outcome, another possiblity is to just
       use two of those $20 projectors for 2x2x2 projection!  Just get those
       two projectors and a couple pieces of polarizing material to jury-rig
       out in front of the projector's lenses and you're in business!
