After I mount the first batch of V-M chips, I put the
film back in the sleeve. (If you have your film
developed by Kodak and don't get sleeves, empty sleeving
is available cheaply from many sources). These sleeves
are usually polypropylene, and are considered archival.
I then label the end of the roll with indelible marker,
and store them loosely rolled inside the perimeter of a
35mm movie film can. I am currently using a 400' can
(7" diameter) which is OK for a few rolls. If you need
to store more rolls, use a 1000' can. The 2000' cans
are rather large and are cumbersome for this use, though
they are more common. I store movies in them :-). I
also use a 400' can for rolls waiting to be mounted, in
all 35mm stereo formats.
