You are right. If it is a choice of purchasing just for the sorting box,
the cost is high. I only have one of them, but I still use it.

I have always found it simpler to use the sorting box, as that is the way I
was taught. I might stop using it, but I will still use the Realist cutter
- best one I have found so far. I like the fact that it is adjustable and I
do not need illumination. I just received some new machine tools and I
thought I might take a stab at making a few cutters. The ideal Christmas
gift. It dices, slices and makes Julienne Kodachrome.....

My Mounting Kits - I have 2 because they are in slightly different colored
packages - Silver box top and one red and one green bottom , included the
Sorting Box, Tweezers, Cutter and Instructions. The Jig and Alignment Gauge
was in a separate little box.
BTW: Has anyone here ever used or seen the later model Alignment Gauge - I
believe Realist offered it; but I am not sure if they simply distributed it
or if it was something they actually manufactured. As I recall, it was an
engraved plastic plate, maybe 4 X 5 inches in size, packaged in a small
cream colored envelope.
