Hi, folks:

        Rule 5 of the eBay user agreement states, in part: "You may not email bidders
in a currently open auction being run by a different seller, offering similar
or the same item at price levels below the current bid (bid siphoning), nor
may you use an alias to place bids to make your auction a hot auction."

        I didn't happen to see whether the seller used an alias to bid up his
merchandise, but based on the descriptions here, it appears to me that what he
did violates the spirit if not the letter of the e-Bay agreement.  Frankly, I
hope the hapless buyer knows enough to back out on the deal -- he'd be
entirely justified, IMO.  Perhaps eBay ought to be forwarded a copy of the
seller's own description of what he did, so that the eBay can make up its own
mind whether it wants to allow such sellers to continue to abuse the market.
Just a suggestion.
