This is what I did with my Canon EOS Rebel on a recent cross-country trip. I
usually zoomed all the way out with my 28-105mm lens as well, since we were
well above the clouds and ground. Got some nice pix of both cloud layers and
ground through clouds, plus some small cloudless mountain ranges, most of
which looked pretty good. I've found that well-defined clouds work best,
though; this most recent batch had clouds and haze, which decreased
watchability. Another time, I was going to do similar shots, but the plane's
windows were just too dirty!
