I'm sure these technical details can be worked out. We have a lot of
control over the depth in the scene, the effective spacing between views
and so forth. I presume you also mean the particular "interlacing" of the
array for your barrier system.

Compositing, retouching and special effects are all possible. The only real
limits are the time and money available.

Well, there are limits on how much one can sharpen a blurred background. It
might be better to replace it entirely with another suitable photograph.
See the butterfly conversion I did:

The tree background was remade during the conversion (to save labor), the
butterflies were separately supplied elements, comped over the bg.

On the other hand, I don't think a blurred background is necessarily a big
problem with autostereos. Most systems have limited depth, and the
background planes tend to go fuzzy anyway due to limitations of the
process. So maybe it would be just as well to leave the BG out of focus and
direct attention to the main subject.
