P3D Kodak Mounts for You

I have been having my Realist slides done through a CVS drugstore. Last week
I tried going through Eckerd for a change, and had two rolls sent through
them. Both were marked "Do not mount".  When they came back, one of the
envelopes was crossed out where I had written, "do not mount". When I opened
it up, I was shocked to find that they had mounted them for me, in cardboard
mounts. I was pleased at first, that they had gone through the trouble of
doing this for me, and at no extra cost. And disappointed when I opened the
other envelope, and found the roll wound up and uncut, as I usually got
them. However, the mounted ones were not done all that well, and gave me a
headache looking at them. Luckily, they were just a lot of shots taken on a
business trip to Florida, and none I would probably take apart and try to
fix up. (Well, maybe, when I get the time.)  But I started to think, what if
I wanted to mount them in better mounts than the carboard. Or just wanted to
do a better job myself. Is there no way to assure that the photo labs follow
your directions? Or did they just do one roll to let me see that they would
do it in the future, and let me be the judge of whether I wanted their
services or not?
