hi p3ders!! i thought these two autostereo prints were good! i'm no
expert on lenticular technology but i have looked at quite few in my
day!!! these are as good as i've seen but quite honestly i was hoping
these would be better than the best lents.!!
the prints (8x10"), were a sandwich consisting of a white translucent
plastic backing with the image and lenticular surface next, and with
(1/16") clear, glossy plastic on the front! the lenticular grid seems to
have 100+ lines per inch and they loose thier visability at about 5'!
the prints have to be backlit to work good at all!!
one image was of two snooker tables at a pool hall i found that my
optimum viewing distance was about 7' and even tho the lenticular
stepping was quite obvious when i moved side to side i could find a
place where the 3d was real nice except for a couple of pool cues in the
far corner wanting to double up! the view looks diagonally across the
tables with the nearest corner of the table coming through the window!
the other print was a close shot of two tigers laying next to each
other! one laying tiger is closer and comes thru the window, too! to
me this was a little disconcerting because with side to side movement
there was considerable stepping in the foreground tiger with none on the
other (who is at the window)! the close tiger also seemed a little out
of focus but might be due to the increased depth information at that
point!
i'm always dissapointed that good lenticulars require more than a pair
of images for good stereo because that's all i can get out of my rbt! i
did read a post lately, that any angle of view between a pair could be
digitally derived and could be used to produce good lenticular images! i
wish lents could get rid of a visable grid!! is that possible???
