The spring clips are very easily removed without having them fly off,
but only if you remove the black plate by removing the four screws.
Trying to take off the clips in any other way seems doomed to
failure, without some specialized tool. And there is a GREAT risk of
chipping away the little ledge the clips are gripping, making either
the cover itself or the black rectangle unable thereafter to hold
clips at all.
