P3D silver screens

>I'm presently using a Da-Lite "Silver Pacer," a
lenticular screen I picked up many years ago when I was doing nothing
but flat
photography simply because it was the cheapest thing around. It seems
to do a
pretty good job. My question is, is there anything obviously and
markedly
better?
There should be articles archived under 'screens' or 'silver screens'.
We did have a thread a number of years ago on comparisons of screens,
particularly a comparison of the older and newer Da-Lite fabrics.
If I recall, the older 25 lentil/inch Da-Lite fabric had a higher
reflectance near-axis than the newer 40 lentil/inch Super Wonderlite,
which was brighter off-axis. Overall, the difference was mostly a
question of 'resolution', with the lines on the older fabric being
visible at a closer difference.
As I've said many, many times, it would be nice if some manufacturer
produced an 8' x 8' or 9' x 9' lenticular silver screen at a reasonable
(under $500) price. Has anyone ever tried to *paint* a 9' x 9' white
screen?
