Four of todays top 3-D promoters were in Pittsburgh last night. KISS
performed at the arena. The stage show gets better and better, the
musicianship worse and worse. These guys were excited about their 3-D
show! I have a feeling that when the band decides to call it quits, (
and yes folks, the magic is gone :-( ) that at least one of those guys (
Paul ?) will persue stereo photography. The 3-d show consisted of live
video alternating with studio set video, including some great animation
as Ace's guitar takes flight through the universe.
Pretty cool stuff and very well done IMO. I found myself trying to
explain to surrounding drunks just how the glasses worked, what to
expect etc. It was very funny to listen to the people discuss these
glasses before the show!
VERY funny!! My favorite was the guy who quickly put the glasses on as
a well endowed woman walked buy. He said dissapointedly " these don't do
anything....these suck!" and his buddy replied " what do you mean you
idiot? They were sticking right out there...you don't need glasses to
see that....maybe you need regular glasses!" And he replied " No, I
need another beer....ha ha yuk yuk etc." I enjoyed the crowd more than
the show. I think KISS is doing a great job to promote 3-D video! The
comments were very positive, most folks were blown away! I sat 45
degrees off axis to the screen and the effects looked good. I estimated
to be approx 60-70 yards from the screen and some of the effects were in
sharp focus and appeared to be as close as 2 feet away! Nice job KISS,
now I suggest you spend more time practicing. :-)
