P3D Re: slide film or neg film?

We are in full agreement.

On a rather different topic, I ask: IF (and this is a big IF)
the quality of prints that you get back is the same whether you use
negative or positive film, which one would you use? Wouldn't you
prefer positive film so you can see the results right away?

This would solve the big dilemma (slides vs. prints) right away.
You got slides and you make fine prints with them if you so wish.

Why are we using negative film? Is that a leftover from analog
printing? Would it make a difference if the printing was digital?
(of course, in a digital world there might be little incentive to
use film in the first place...)
