George says...

Then he says...

Now it's time for my observations (it's a slow day at work here).
First, I don't necessarily agree with the second of Dr T's statement
that slide film has a totally different use in 3D. IMHO, slides are for
projecting, prints are for viewing, whether 3D or 2D. You could
conceivably say that a 2D slide is the final product and can be enjoyed
with a slide viewer. I have hundreds of slides I took in my college
days with the express intent of viewing them through a slide viewer.
Why? Well, on a college budget, having slides developed was cheaper
than having prints made.

Now the first question posed by the good doctor; "...what is the
advantage of using negative film...". Again, IMHO, the main advantage
TODAY is the rapid return of prints at your friendly neighborhood 1-hour
photo. Granted, there are places that can develop slide film in about
the same time. We even have one next to our local grocery store. So, I
can drop off a roll, go shopping and then pick it up before I go home.
I still shoot print film and have the prints developed. Why? Because
it's still cheaper than my slides. And, I have prints my family can
look at as well as negatives to scan if I so choose.

Ron
