Here's part of the FAQ on ebay. The sentence to note is "unsolicited commerical
messages". Even if you end up thinking it's ok to do according to ebay rules
George, I can tell you from long experience on ebay that most buyers/sellers
will look very poorly on it and it isn't worth risking your good reputation! As
someone registered on ebay I DO NOT want my email address used to receive emails
from other sellers I've never dealt with regarding an item for sale (no matter
how good the intention), other locations to purchase it, etc. etc. Imagine if
everyone began doing that with the thousands of items listed? I can search for
what I want or receive email from people who know me who keep an eye out.
