P3D Buying from a dealer

As long as there is still some talk about the value of buying from a
dealer rather than straight from the source (was originally RBT from
Germany) I thought I would relate the following true story:

I ordered an RBT X3A from Jon Golden at 3D Concepts in
November 1997. It finally arrived in August of 1998 just in time for
me to take it to the National Caving Convention in Tennessee and
then up to NSA Convention in Richmond. One week before leaving
one of the view finder lenses fell out. I emailed Jon and got a
response in the form of a phone call the very next day. He told me to
pack it up and send it back right away and he would take care of
fixing it. When I told him about my plans and how much I wanted to
use it he offered to send me his own personal X3A which was due
to arrive any day and then just bring them both to NSA and decide
what to do. I told him my camera was still functional and asked if it
would be all right to go ahead and use it and then discuss options
when we met at NSA. He said that would be fine. I went on my
vacation, used the camera succesfully, and when I got to NSA Jon
simply traded me cameras.

So what would that be worth to you - saving a hundred dollars or
two by buying direct?

Needless to say my pleasure of owning and using the X3 is only
surpassed by the treatment I have received from the dealer that
sold it to me.

That's all for now,
