The local (in Montana) Costco is carrying 1100mAh Panasonic branded
AA and AAA Ni-Cd batteries. They encourage you to buy one of their
chargers (4 AA plus charger for around $14), but I've read that it
isn't anything particularly special, except it includes a timer that
shuts off after a period of charging. I dunno if there is actually
any voltage/current monitoring going on beyond that. There were available
last Christmas (AA batteries get REAL hard to find this time of year!),
but only with the charger - however, now there are also battery packs
without the charger.
