Until recently, Wal-Mart in Canada had a really good deal on rechargeable
alkalines. They sold a charger plus 8 AA batteries for $19 and change (CDN)
but the real bargoon was extra batteries. 2 AA cells in a pack for 97 cents
CDN. I stocked up with about 30 for my Ricoh RDC-2E (another battery
hog if I use the LCD screen much). Wal Mart still sells the charger and
AA cells for the same price (I believe a couple of the cells are now AAA)
but they seem to have woken up to their generousity on the spares which
have gone up to $5 and change (I guess I can hope that's just for the
Christmas season).
