This was the first thing that occured to me when I discovered that my
XA-2's were mis-matched......but it doesn't work!

You can get EQUIVALENT exposures by adjusting the ASA settings but the
cameras will still differ from each other
in their choice of shutter speed and aperture.  So the two film chips
will differ in how they show moving objects and in the depth of field,
making them too screwy for stereo viewing.  That was my actual
experience.
