David Stuckey responds:

Gary, I was referring to the XA when I suggested using the ASA settings to
approximately match the cameras.  Your statement above refers to the XA2
model which is automatic and the method of adjusting the ASA setting will
not work.

Please remember to quote me or anyone in context, my advice DOES work but
only when applied to the cameras that I suggested.
