Hi Martha,
I was reading in George's statement that he was offering the item to someone in 
someone ELSE's auction (if I didn't read it right, then ignore my previous 
message :-).  If it's his own auction, that's no problem and it happens often.

This too is fine - the buyer did already pay a higher listing fee for the 
reserve price even though they lose the commission fee.  I've done this with 
some items I've sold as I figured if no one bid it, it might have been too high.
Splitting the price with the bidder worked well for both of us.
