P3D More Medical Stereo Photo Questions

I wish to extend a thank you to all those kind enough to offer information
in response to my questions about a medical stereo photo presentation.

Although I've shot stereo on and off for the last 3 years, I could use some
further advice and info. I will be photographing (stereo) a surgical
procedure in a few days using either my TDC or Realist camera. I understand
that since the lens focal length is 35mm, and since I must respect the
sterile field and not get too close, I will not be able to shoot true
close-ups of the subject. So the question is: How close to the subject can
one get with a Stereo Realist camera, and when mounting, do I need to
compensate for this short focal distance (ie. increase or decrease film chip
seperation)?

Hope this isn't a stupid question, and thanks in advance.

Mike
