P3D Realist Shutter Speeds
Ray Moxom asked:
One full page "watch for it - wait for it" advertisement was on page 3
of the November 1946 edition of "American Photography".
Interestingly, this advertisement had photographs of a Stereo Realist
camera with f3.5 Ilex-Paragon lenses and with 1sec to 1/200 sec shutter
speeds!
To the best of my knowledge only the 1/150 sec maximum shutter speed
reached the market until the f2.8 lens model was released a few years
later.
Was there an early Realist with f3.5 Ilex-Paragon lenses and with
shutter speeds marked as 1sec to 1/200 sec?
Is there any knowledge of this among members of our P3D list?

I came across the same ad about a year ago and was courious about the
1/200 shutter mentioned. I have an Ilex Realist with Serial #386 and it
has 1/150 top speed. I believe that before prodution they found that
1/200 was not realistic for a Realist. I also have an Ektar 2.8 with
1/150. Does anyone know if this is the norm for Ektars, or do some go to
1/200? Also do all 2.8s have the double exposure prevention? My Ektar
had it many years before they came out on the 3.5.
