P3D The function of photography

This "thread" on why this, and why that, is very familiar to anyone who has
read on the history of art, I must say. To assume the podium (academic)
stance for a moment, if I remember correctly, art historians have fairly
arbitrarily come up with:

Realists: those who copy nature faithfully (on canvas or photographic
sheets, of course)

Sur-realists: those who bend and twist reality somewhat, usually for
political or artistic purposes

Abstract: Those who aim at the essence of the image (ie, the emotion
behind the image, etc.,,)

Non-objective: those who are not interested in the image at all, but
instead focus on line, color, form, and texture.

I don't see why your photos couldn't just as easily be divided into similar
categories, with perhaps an additional cagegory, come to think about it,
for depth of field, or something like that.

Best regards,

Bob Schreiber ("Dr. S")
