P3D Re: Lack of Understanding?

Yes - I was watching a tv program on the discovery of DNA (perhaps Nova)
and found extremely interesting a part where the protein sequence had
been mapped out onto paper, but just could not be fit together until
it was folded (curled actually) into 3d, at which point the double
helix popped out. 

The similarity to the movie was so striking to me that I wondered
if Sagen did that intentionally (assuming it was in the book, I 
have not read it).
