Not always true. There are thousands of films now in the Public domain -
some are probably in Stereo. Go to any well stocked magazine store and look
in the movie / entertainment / Cinema sections and you should find
publications that list these distributors who duplicate and package some of
these classics.

Did you know that Capra's "It's a Wonderful Life" was in the public Domain?
(Ted Turner got involved, colorized it and I think the exact disposition of
the rights of the film are being batteled, though - it might have changed)
Lots of films are available, I suspect many Stereo ones as well.
