The amazing thing is that for just under $2000 you can buy the Picza
(a 3D digitizer that works by scanning a needle across the surface of
the object being digitized) and the Modela (a 3D plotter that works by
carving a block of modeler's wax (or other suitable material) in a
similar scanning fashion) from Roland.  That's not $2000 each, that
$2000 for the pair.

After SIGGRAPH '98 I was really trying hard to come up with a reason
to buy these (besides "Wow! That's cool!").
