In P3D-3194 Rod Sage <rsage@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> asked:
"Could someone one the list tell me if there is a formula for converting
close up lenses to focal length. For example, what is the focal length
of a +1,+2 etc. close-up lens. I guess these are diopters. Should I be
asking how to convert diopters into focal length. I want to order some
lenses from Edmund Scientific."
Yes the +1, +2 etc are dioptres. Just divide the dioptre into 1,000 and
you have the focal length in mms. Also when the camera lens is focused
at infinity the focal length of the CU lens is the distance that the
subject should be from the film plane. (Australia uses UK English)
