P3D New Polarizing Material?
- From: Bill Davis <bd3d@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Here is the complete text from an article in Rochester (NY) Democrat and
Chronicle Feb. 11:
"UR film is a marvel in polarized light"
"In an article in today's issue of "Nature", Shaw H. Chen, a University of
Rochester professor of chemical engineering, describes the development of a
new material that could revolutionize computers and television.
"The material - a film that has the characteristics of glass and liquid
crystals - produces polarized light that is hundreds of times more pure
than that created by other materials. And it is much more efficient.
"UR scientists believe the material could significantly improve 3-D and
color displays on computers, televisions and computer games. The
university has patented the technology and licensed its use to a California
firm.
"Chen and his team are working on other commercial and military uses."
The reporter couldn't have been much more vague or less informative, huh?
Does anyone here get "Nature"?
I'd like to hear more. What do they mean "more pure" I wonder...
Best regards,
Bill Davis
