It can work well so long as instructions are read carefully
(not skipping over too much not understood) and store
clerk expert advice ignored.  Also don't buy bleeding
edge products, wait until they've been debugged first 
(meaning, wait until they're nearly obsolete). :-)

My father had one for many years.  He thought the same thing when
he got it, but it's not true.  He had waited several months for
my next visit to get his new printer to work on his mac.
Hype.  He's since replaced his mac with a win98 machine and has been
very happy with it.  And it all works.
