That's what I had in mind.  They did say it took two pictures (in
ZDTV's report from what probably was the PMA show early this week
in Vegas).  I wasn't so interested in the current 2D visual output 
application, I'm intrigued by having commercial relatively low 
cost stereo digital camera hardware available and made in quantity 
-- even if the current software backend doesn't output things the way 
I'd like.  "That's only software". :-)

Perhaps it's taking two flash photos with the flash coming from
two places, then software processing the differences from there?
If so, could a good stereo pair be synthesized from that?
