P3D Sub-lists

Let's see if I can understand the motivation to promote sub-lists like
the S1 list, X3 list etc. Seems to me that one person's comment about a
particular camera, or a judging opinion cannot be expressed without
rigorous volley from the other side. I recall comments about judging, so
the judges in P3D raise argument. I recall comments about RBT cameras or
different types of mounts, and the retailers and suppliers in P3D must
comment and defend. To many P3D subscribers......it has become a "watch
what you say" list. I thought the S1 list was a great idea and a good
forum to talk about the camera's merits and faults, shared by those
people with common experiences. List members do not have to defend their
comments and can speak candidly. I don't believe an S1 list is meant to
reduce traffic on P3D, but to avoid the unneccesary traffic of defensive
posters.
