***** Of the basic facts I am very sure. This is not an issue that arose in
the last two days or from guesswork. It's been an ongoing frustration for at
least a year or more. In each case it has been the embed tag that lies at
the heart of the frustration. If I mispoke or newer information shows up
that is different I apologize, but the essential information was in fact
correct and based on observed facts and verified in a number of places over
a long time frame...

***** Interesting. I'll have to check this out. My version of 3D-Pix,
downloaded and installed just a couple weeks ago, does NOT access embedded
images at all (and neither did my older version of 3D-Pix). Maybe there is a
newer version since I installed mine???
Several weeks ago I fully removed the older version (per instructions) and
downloaded and installed new software from the website referrenced above. It
does NOT access embedded images. I am in the process of re-downloading and
reinstalling now. Could it have changed in the last three weeks?
It's still true that either plug-in is limited to Win9x systems.
If there is a newer version and it does access embedded images, would this
mean the embed tag is great? NO. You still need to inform your ISP and
provide a direct JPS link to support non-Windows platform access to your
images, or access for those who for any reason don't have a plug-in and
don't wish to go get one right away. Some may wish to see some pictures first.

****** I mentioned 3D-Pix many times in previous posts... ;-)
The bottom line? Use the embed, or don't use it, your choice. If you use it,
provide a direct link as a bypass mechanism. Definitely tell your ISP about
the mime type. It's not necessary to use the embed tag to gain it's basic
functional features on a web page.
