Well, actually, Radio Shack is an excellent source for NiCads. They
stock a considerable line of replacement packs for a variety of
equipment (cordless phones, camcorders, cell phones, etc.).
1400mAh "Sub C" cell replacements, with solder tabs, are catalog #
23-190, pkg 2/7.99 in the 1998 catalog (current price may be slightly
higher). Note these are *not* special-order ("RSU") items, but standard
stock items at any full-size Radio Shack (but not at "associate"
stores).
Oh, and cell voltage can vary between 1.2 and 1.25 volts.
(I have no financial interest in Radio Shack. The above information is
provided as a public service. Your mileage may vary. Void where
prohibited. Caveat emptor. Cave canem.)
