P3D Re: RBT

Hi Peter!

You are absolutely right and I appreciate the feedback. When I wrote
the RBT posting, I listened to the DO-RE-MI song of the "Sound of Music"
(the version with Mary Martin) and I thought it was funny that I managed
to turn it around by changing a few words. I was proud for myself
until I mentioned it to a friend and he thought that it was pretty
stupid. :-)

Anyway... I admit I get carried away easily and I was carried away when
I got my VM de Wijs and EASY viewers. The enthusiastic photo-3d review
was a true reflection of my feelings at the time. But perhaps I should
have waited to calm down and tailor the reviews more towards facts
(specifications, usage, etc.) and less emotions. I will try and be
more careful in that respect in the future.

When someone says that they want a new stereo camera and someone else
is going to pay for it, I think an RBT camera should be at the top of
the list. And when it comes to quality 2x2 viewers, the de Wijs viewers
should be at the top especially because there are no great alternatives.
What Greg Wageman just said, that he will wait to check them out before
buying, is very important. By all means, check these viewers (or other
expensive products) out for yourself before taking my (or anyone else's)
word. What pleases me might not please you. You don't want to spend a
good chunk of money and be disappointed.

Talking about money and values of things, it is really amazing
that around 1986 I spent $500 for a 20 MB hard drive which today is
in the garbage. If I had bought a de Wijs COMBY viewer instead, I
would be still enjoying it like the first day. Yes, the hard drive
served my needs for a few years but the good viewer would have lasted
for ever. People have priorities. It is not so much that the don't
have the money but that they have other priorities. The best investment
I have made, was the $65 Realist 3.5 and the $60 red button viewer
in 1988. I still have the viewer and it still works as well as the
first day I got it.

Thanks again for the feedback!

George Themelis
