****  No discussion of future cameras can be complete without the inclusion
of digital concerns. You make a point that prints are a good place for
*beginners* to start. It may be much more important than that. Until we have
high res digital cameras at low cost, the scanner is going to be important
to image handling, and it's less costly to scan prints than slides. You can
achieve better resolution from prints than slides simply due to working from
a larger source.

These factors in addition to easy freeviewing of prints gives an advantage
to print formats in stereo between now and some unknown future time. (I'm
not excluding slides)
